TRADEMARK

REGISTRATION

Order letter, which should indicate the applicant ‘s name & address,tittle of trademark, and the detailed designed good and classed pertaining thereto, classes are identity with the international classification.

A power of attorney execute by the applicant, notarization and legalization are generally not required, one form of power of attorney may be used for filling several trademark application for registration simultaneously;

OPPOSITION

The opposition should be filed within 2 months from the date when the opposed mark is published. If necessary, the detailed materials of opposition maybe submitted within 1 month from the filing date of opposition.

FILLING A PATENT APPLICATION FOR INVENTION IN NIGERIA

Necessary document and information

Specification (description + claims+ abstract+ drawings)

An order letter indicating the title of invention, the name and address of the applicant/inventor in English(as the foreign client),the priority date and basic application number(if the priority is claimed)

A power of attorney executed by the applicant

The certified priority document and form of assignment (if the applicant of basic application indicated in the certified priority document is not the same as at the one of the Nigeria application)

* The priority period of a patent for invention is 12 months

If 12 months period is over, the application can still be filed as a non-convention application, before the application first filed in another country being published.

FILING A PATENT APPLICATION FOR DESIGN IN NIGERIA

Necessary document and information

An order letter indicating the title of the design, the name and address of the applicant/designer in English (as the foreign client), the priority date and basic application number (if the priority is claimed)

A power of attorney executed by the applicant

The certified priority document and form of assignment (if the applicant of basic application indicated in the certified priority document is not the same as the one of the Nigeria application)

3 of drawings (front, rear, top, bottom, right, and left views), plus a perspective view. The size of the drawing should be: 3cm X 8cm<size<15cm X 22cm

Instead of drawing photos can be provided.

Two set of black and white photos (six two-dimensional views, as describe above plus a perspective view),if no colour is to be protected; or two set of colour photos and one set of black and white photos, if colour is to be protected.

NB: A sample of the design to be registered can be submitted upon the registrar of design request.
